STEM Field Trip

A STEM Field Trip Worth Remembering, Learn how Science, Art and Math Come Together To Make A Fragrance.

Perfume-making is deeply rooted in chemistry and biology.

At Orris Labs, students will learn about molecular interactions, the roles of natural and synthetic compounds, and the science of olfaction, how our brains perceive and process scents.Through hands-on experiments, they’ll explore how oils are extracted and how chemical reactions influence fragrance composition.

Students will practice ratio and proportion when blending ingredients, developing a greater appreciation for the practical application of math in everyday life.

Fragrance design is as much an art as it is a science. Students have the opportunity to use their imagination to craft unique scent profiles, combining different notes to create their own signature fragrance. This aspect of the field trip encourages critical thinking and creative problem-solving.
